Landscape design and construction

More than 30 years ago, I opened a small garden center and landscaping business in Phoenix, Arizona. Before that, I dedicated myself to learning everything I could about landscape design and construction: the growing habits of trees, shrubs, ground covers, perennials, and annual flowers. My curriculum included university and college courses, as well as extensive on-the-job experience. That has been the perfect blend of classroom and practical hands-on training, and has led to many acclaimed projects.

After several years in the desert, I relocated to the Chicago area in the heart of the Midwest. I continued to practice garden design and construction throughout the city of Chicago and its suburbs.
A few of my projects have been featured in Chicagoland Gardening Magazine, Chicago NBC TV News, and local papers and radio interviews. My landscape company was selected by the presenting sponsor of the Chicago Flower & Garden Show to design and build their showcase garden displays for the show at Chicago’s Navy Pier.

In 2010, I moved to San Diego, California, and resumed my passion there. It has been quite a learning curve. The practices of good home gardening and landscape design are the same no matter where you live.
